ABOUT THE TRAINING
The training is brutal and focused. Using a short-to-long
programme supported by the Jersey Sport Foundation the approach is counter to
traditional approaches of having long slow sessions building into short hard
sessions.
Instead the crew has targets to put in “personal best”
performances at 500m, 1000m, 2000m 5000m and 10,000m from January through to
the events. The aim is to be fast. Very fast. And maintain that speed-endurance
for longer.
The training involves time in the gym, time on the rowing
machines and lots of time working on boat technique and race craft on the
water.
